Here is a list of tools that you will find handy while building your online businesses. Most are free while others are inexpensive. Most of them have proved very useful for me in my various online endeavours.

When you buy anything or download stuff free over the Internet, you need to do your own due-diligence.

HTML Validator	Whether you create your own website or someone else does it for you, it's your job to ensure that it is at least built right! This is important since the search engines employ bots - computer programs that read the code behind the pages. If your website HTML is not proper, your page will not be indexed correctly.
Link Checker	Use this to make sure all the links in your application are working correctly. Every so often life happens to your website and your links become orphaned. Use this very handy tool and you can detect most missing link errors.
HTML Editor	HTML Editor so that you can create or edit pages on your website.

Monitor.us	This tool also provides you uptime and downtime status reports and alerts. This includes a free link checker you can access when you sign up for free trial.
Gickr - Photos In Motion	Upload your pictures from your local computer or Flickr, Youtube or Picasa and create animated images.
Post-It Note Generator	Make your site lively. Use this tool to create your post-it notes like the one used on this site.
Paint.Net	Amazing, nifty, slick, intuitive, beautiful and most of all FREE. I couldnt begin to start working on a website without this little application that is FREE from Microsoft. Yes, that's correct. I said FREE and Microsoft in the same sentence! Run, don't walk to download this.
Visual Studio Express Edition	This tool gives you the ability to program ASP.NET websites. Agreed, you may not want to or know enough to code them, but if you want a cheap and easy HTML tool, this is pretty good.
Big Foto For Free Pictures	Use these pictures for free on your website.
Quick Screen Capture	Allows you to take snapshots of different areas of your computer screen.
